C. calycanthema, Carpathian Harebell, Campanula carpatica

Campanula is one of several genera in the family Campanulaceae with the common name bellflower. It takes both its common and its scientific name from its bell-shaped flowers—campanula is Latin for "little bell". They are annuals in zones 4 to 6 and perennials in zones 6 to 9.  A true biennial which flowers in the spring of the second season. Many use the Cup and Saucer Campanula for cut flowers. Flowers are most often bell-shaped, but there are species that have flowers shaped like stars. Many species in the genus Campanula have a white latex in their leaves and stems, which is generally thought to be used as protection from herbivores.
